The necklace is centred by a finely worked ribbon-bow clasp in 18 karat white gold, set with brilliant-cut diamonds and deep blue sapphires. The diamonds are estimated to be of VS to VVS clarity and H–J colour, typical of well-made European jewellery of the period. Both decorative and structural, the clasp is integral to the design and characteristic of mid-century work and was made by William Edward Ginder (trading as W E Ginder Ltd from circa 1951) in the UK, later imported in France.
Dating to the 1960s, the piece remains entirely relevant today — understated, balanced, and quietly distinctive. It has since passed through the French market.
A versatile jewel, equally at ease worn formally or with restraint in a contemporary setting.
