1920s Austrian Ruby and Diamond Bar Brooch in 14ct Gold

An elegant early 20th-century Austrian bar brooch, crafted circa 1915–1925 and reflecting the refined geometry of the late Austro-Hungarian period transitioning into early Art Deco design. The letter "A" as hallmark in the brooch bar in this context generally indicates the Vienna assay office.

The brooch is executed in 14ct gold with a silver-topped setting, a traditional technique of the era used to enhance the brilliance of diamonds. A linear gold bar is centred by a circular diamond-set motif (Est. VS-VVS, H-I-J Colour), intersected by a channel of calibré-cut rubies. The composition is symmetrical, crisp, and understated, characteristic of Viennese jewellery workshops of the period.

Set with approximately thirty old single-cut diamonds and twelve calibré-cut rubies, the brooch balances colour and sparkle with restrained elegance. Its slim profile and clean lines make it highly wearable, whether styled on a lapel, scarf, or dress.
