Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Book Chain Necklace with Original Oval Locket

A striking and highly wearable late Victorian sterling silver book chain necklace, hallmarked Birmingham 1884, retaining its original matching oval locket pendant.

The necklace is formed from an attractive and unusually substantial articulated book-chain design, composed of star-cut silver discs and decorative beadwork links, creating exceptional texture and light reflection. Suspended from the original bolt ring is a beautifully detailed oval locket featuring intricate repoussé decoration and hand-engraved floral detailing to the centre.

Unlike many surviving Victorian examples, this piece remains as a complete suite, with the chain and locket complementing one another perfectly.
